Delta Dental Insurance Company announced its donation of $10,000 and 10,000 mouthguards to the Jacksonville Sports Council Charities and Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference.

The Jacksonville Sports Council Charities and the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference are nonprofit organizations that serve thousands of young athletes in Northeast Florida. The organizations also help promote health and safety while playing contact sports such as football and cheerleading.

More than 20 different leagues will benefit from the donation of 10,000 mouthguards, a device that can help prevent serious injuries and trauma to the mouth.

“While the use of mouthguards in sports activities is supported by the dental profession, cost can be a barrier for many people,” said Calvin Whitaker, sales account executive for Delta Dental Insurance Company. “This donation will help thousands of children protect their teeth and hopefully save their parents from needing to get them emergency dental care.”
